Esslinger Engineering provides you with the capability of bolting the Ford 2.3 sohc engine onto any vw transaxle. The Ford engines put out 110 hp in stock form(naturally) and 150 - 190 hp in stock form(turbo) and can really make a buggy or sand toy into a super performer. They can be hopped up to 400 hp (naturally) and 1000 hp with a turbo. These engines are much more reliable and cost effective in comparison to the same output vw based engine. The Ford sohc engines rotate the same direction as the vw. You use your 12 volt vw starter, vw 200mm clutch and pressure plate. Below check out some suggestions to get your rail, buggy or toy movin.

Through the years of research and testing we have developed a carburetion system utilizing four Mikuni carbs that are nearly untouchable for any sand/offroad application. These carbs were originally developed for use on dirt bikes and snowmobiles, making them ideal for offroad and sand. The Mikuni setup for this application is the most consistent setup without having the “loading up” and “flooding out” issues of other carbs. Our mikuni assembly produces more torque than a standard two barrel carb, provides a smoother power curve and is easily adjustable to suit your application.

Our Mikuni assemblies come complete with an aluminum manifold, a heavy duty four into one cable mounted to the manifold, rubber mounting flanges, four pre-jetted modified Mikuni carburetors, four washable K & N air filters and a one into four fuel block.(In most cases the mikinu setup cannot work with a distributor. You must use a crank fire ignition or other non dist. Setup.)

The Aluminum Dport Head

Lose weight and add more horsepower with the aluminum dport head.
Bolts up all stock manifolds and accessories. It is a good 50 horsepower over stock cast heads.
